There are three basic
USDA grades of beef. They are in order of quality Prime, Choice
and Select. The balance of the American beef are either un-graded
or graded for use in grinds like bologna or hot dogs. Most Prime
cuts go to high end big city restaurants and are very, very
expensive.
Generally, most large grocers sell Select beef. Generally, we
sell Choice beef at the Rawhide MEAT Company. |

Pork is USDA inspected,
but is not graded. Whenever possible, we sell pork from younger,
less fat and more tender hogs. We have to pay a little more for
this pork, but feel that it will provide you with much finer table
fare. |

Chicken is almost always frozen at the
grocer. We choose to take another path, selling only fresh chicken.
Our jumbo chicken breasts, wings and drumsticks are a big hit. At
Thanksgiving we sell fresh, all natural turkeys by special order.
Rawhide also has a broad selection of frozen seafood to compliment our
fresh MEAT offerings.
Our staff of 3 MEAT cutters
have a combined 135 years experience in the butcher and MEAT cutter
trades, so they really know their business. And, our sales counter
help is the finest you’ll find around. Rawhide employees are always
willing to stop and talk to our customers about their MEAT needs.
Special cuts and precision cuts are no problem. Just ask. Need help
with your packages? Just ask. We’ll even print you a recipe off the
internet if you need one.
Even with our superior
quality MEAT and customer service, we manage to remain very
competitive with our pricing. You may pay a little more for a Choice
beefsteak, but it’s well worth it. The taste and tenderness far
exceeds Select cuts. You will find that our Choice MEAT is less
expensive than that at other local stores (when you can find it
